Lyons is Chicago's oldest suburb. Its origins extend back to the late 17th century when the first European explorers Marquette and Jolliet passed through the Chicago Portage which is located within the village.  Lyons boasts homes built in the 1800's and residents who are a dedicated, close-knit group with diverse ethnic origins.
