McCook is named after Col. John J. McCook, the Director of Santa Fe Railroad in 1892. The village receives water directly from Chicago and supplies several neighboring communities with water services. The industries in this village employ about 20,000 local workers and the community is able to offer their residents services such as a fully equipped weight room, a sauna and a library complete with computers.
